Spotlight On: Rhiannon Chivers, Fakenham

A new ‘Spotlight On…’ initiative has been created by Jeni Cawhill, manager of the Swaffham branch, which is designed to celebrate staff on their birthday.

Each staff member will receive some goodies and a brief interview will be conducted by the senior team, so we can find out a little more about the people working behind the scenes at Manorcourt Homecare.

First in the series is Rhiannon Chivers, who covers the Fakenham area:

Q1: What is your name and job title?

My name is Rhiannon Chivers, I am a Mentor and Care Worker for the Fakenham area.

Q2: What is your job role at Manorcourt Homecare and when did you start working here?

I started working for Manorcourt in January 2019. My job role involves caring for the vulnerable, promoting independence and assisting with daily life tasks. I am also a Mentor for the Fakenham area; this involves working with new members of staff supporting them to prepare to work independently for their role. I conduct their four weekly, eight and twelve weekly supervisions before they pass their probation.

Q3: In the last three months, what have you enjoyed most about your job. Is there a specific example that has stood out?

The last three months has been more challenging than normal, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this has been inspirational because everyone at Manorcourt Homecare has come together as a team; working together for people’s safety and well-being.

Q4: What is your favourite part of your working day?

My favourite part of the working day is getting a client up, washed and dressed. I enjoy making the client feel at ease, having a choice in what they would like to wear, doing their hair and make up, or having a shave.

I believe just because they can no longer do this themselves it does not mean they cannot still have these same things they know and love, and feel comfortable within their own home.

Q5: What’s the most challenging part of your working day, how do you get through this?

The thing I find most challenging in my job role are the long hours, however knowing that you have made someone happy, and they are safe and comfortable is so rewarding – it keeps you going.

Q6: Outside of work, what’s your favourite thing to do?

Outside of work, I like to relax, spend time with my lovely family and boyfriend who I don’t see often enough. I like to take my gorgeous dog for nice walks and having cuddles with my beautiful cat.
