Overbury House resident 91, celebrates birthday like “The Queen”

A 91-year-old resident at Overbury House in Wroxham marked her half-birthday with a very special treat – her first ever Chinese takeaway.

Cynthia, who is known for her independence and sharp sense of humour, celebrated the occasion with her closest friend Brenda. The pair tucked into chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, spring rolls and fried rice, before rounding off the meal with a homemade cake prepared by the home’s chef, Mia.

Staff gathered to sing ‘Happy Half-Birthday’ and Cynthia said she thoroughly enjoyed the food and the fuss, describing it as an experience she would never forget.

Debbie, manager at Overbury House, said: “Cynthia loves to try new things and it was wonderful to see her so happy. We’re always looking for ways to make these moments special for our residents.”

Overbury House provides residential, nursing and dementia care across the East and South of England.
