New manager delighted at Good CQC result for Olive House

Olive House in Newton Flotman, Norfolk, has been rated Good in its latest inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The inspection, which took place in November and was published in January said that residents were happy, felt well cared for and were treated with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

Olive House’s new Home Manager Julie Robinson said, “ It’s a really great start for the new year at Olive House and one we plan to build on in 2023 opening up the home to the local community and building new relationships.”

Julie said that children from the village school and the members of the local church were already regular visitors and Olive House residents loved to welcome them into their home.

Julie has been leading the team at Olive House for the past three months and was attracted to the family feel of the home and the ethos of Healthcare Homes as a company. She had previously worked as a manager and troubleshooter for large and small care home groups as well as in a childrens’ home.

She said, “Olive House is a lovely home, not huge and fully accessible to the residents as it is all on one floor. The village location is also a big plus. People are happy here with the staff and residents feeling like one big family.”

In the latest CQC report residents and their families praised the care team and said that people were treated as individuals. Residents are encouraged and supported to live a full life and residents and relatives meetings have been introduced to ensure good communication. There is a positive culture at Olive House that is open, inclusive and achieves good outcomes for the residents.
