Healthcare Homes ‘Remembers Together’ for Armistice Day

Residents at 45 care homes have joined a national initiative to ‘Remember Together’ to mark this year’s Armistice Day.

The Healthcare Homes Group encouraged teams across the regions to support residents in being able to share their special memories of wartime, or their own thoughts of condolence and remembrance as part of a BBC initiative.

The BBC’s project brought together local BBC radio teams to create a giant poppy mosaic, using photographs of local people displaying their #RememberTogether message on special message boards.

Residents across the Healthcare Homes Group have shared many thoughts and memories to create their own mosaic ‘memory wall’ artwork, as well as sharing these with their local BBC region. The poppy montage can be found on the Healthcare Homes website and has been shared with residents across the group.

Gordon Cochrane, CEO of Healthcare Homes Group said; “When we learned about the BBC’s ‘Remember Together’ plans we were keen to support our residents in getting involved.  Finding ways to continue marking these important milestones and occasions, which mean an awful lot to our residents, are so important as we navigate our way through the pandemic.

“It was really quite emotive reading some of the thoughts and memories that were shared and I know from feedback that residents enjoyed the opportunity to reminisce and share these poignant moments.

“We’ll treasure our poppy mosaic memory wall for years to come and hope that our residents and their relatives enjoy looking over these wonderful sentiments.”
