Harry still has a twinkle in his eye as he celebrates 102nd birthday

Harry Spring celebrated his 102nd birthday at Beaumont Park recently.

Harry has lived at the Biggleswade care home for just over two years. He is the oldest resident at the home and is loved by the team and fellow residents alike who describe him as ‘a true gentleman’ ‘Someone who always has a smile and a twinkle in his eye’ ‘the heart and soul of Beaumont Park’ and ‘Our Poster boy.’

Harry was born in the village of Eyeworth and then lived in Dunton his whole life, where he worked at Dunton Corner Garage. He was engineer in WW2 where he spent the years in Egypt. He has a son Martin, two grandchildren Katie and Daniel, and a great grandaughter Martha who is 11.

His family helped him to celebrate his birthday in the visiting pod at the home with cake, balloons and presents.

In his spare time Harry loves to read and still enjoys the daily crossword. He loves music and loves to dance.

When asked about his secret for a long and happy life Harry’s advice is never to take your work home with you and stick to gin, never drink vodka.

Beaumont Park in Bedfordshire is part of the Healthcare Homes family of 47 homes and provides modern living for older people with nursing and dementia care needs. The home is rated good by the Care Quality Commission – CQC.
