

Four members of the care team at Alexandra care home in Hertfordshire have graduated from the Healthcare Homes Academy as advanced healthcare practitioners.
The graduates – sisters Animol Lukose and Dini Lukose, Ciya Joseph and Reka Nagelova were presented with their certificates from Healthcare Homes’ Chief Executive Gordon Cochrane and Home Manager Gina Gadek as well as George Marden-Evans the Clinical Trainer who delivered the programme. The Healthcare Homes Academy is our own in house training and development department which offers something for everyone from new starters right through to developing the leaders of tomorrow.
The carers from Alexandra are the first four graduates from the Advanced Healthcare Practitioners (HCP’s) programme. HCP’s work as part of the nursing and care team and have direct contact with residents providing high quality and compassionate care.
Advanced HCP’s undertaking a period of learning alongside their work which consists of workshops, supervised practice and E-learning. This enables the selected candidates to increase their knowledge, meaning they will be invaluable support for the nurses they work with at Alexandra and be able to carry out a variety of tasks including distributing medication, writing up care plans, and taking bloods.
Alexandra Home Manager Gina said, “All four take their role very seriously and have been an asset to the home since they started working with us. Their commitment and professionalism have been outstanding from day one and we are delighted to have them as part of our team.
“Dini, Animol and Ciya are now looking to do their adaptation and become fully qualified nurses. Reka is also hoping to do further study.”
