The Manor House resident Muriel Dixon is the proud recipient of a card from the Queen thanking her for her contribution to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Muriel, who has been a resident at the Norfolk home for the past year, has made a hobby out of making pom poms and has many garlands in her room. She has also made Christmas and Valentines decorations and badges for others in the home.
Home Manager Paula Pawsey said, “Muriel just loves making pom poms and they are great for keeping up hand dexterity. Helped by our activities team she decided to do a big Union Flag, which took over 1000 pom poms to make the design and red, white and blue pom pom badges for residents and staff to celebrate the Queen’s jubilee.
“We then sent pictures and some information to the palace and Muriel was absolutely thrilled to get a reply. She called us all in after she had opened the letter and there were a few tears.”
The Buckingham Palace envelope has been framed and the card is currently on display along with the items made for the Jubilee. There was also a personalized letter which references the lovely red, white and blue pom poms.
The Manor House, in North Walsham Wood, Norfolk, is part of the Healthcare Homes family of 48 care homes and 11 homecare branches in the south and east of the country. The Manor House is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
