Elenita is named as a hero for Home Close

Healthcare Homes colleagues were delighted to get together at a company conference and awards last week to recognize staff and teams who work throughout our family of 48 homes and 11 homecare branches.

And whilst it was recognized that every health and social care employee is undoubtedly a hero, and every Healthcare Homes team was awarded an Inspirational Team of the Year Award, managers had also been asked to recommend individuals for the Hero Awards 2022.

Elenita Arpon was nominated as one of 24 people to receive a Hero Award 2022. She started working at Home Close in  Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, 21 years ago, originally joining as a senior carer before completing her nurse registration two years later.

She is described as ‘going above and beyond to ensure that her residents live the best possible lives.’

Elenita also received a testimonial from a resident’s husband who said ‘ Elenita made an immediate impact; she always goes about her duties diligently and is always cheerful; I could tell that she is loved and highly respected by her colleagues – I have never heard a word of complaint either from her or about her.’

A local district nurse also remembers working with Elenita and now visiting a friend in Home Close; she said ‘ it is wonderful that you have such a knowledgeable, professional , caring and pleasant lady to manage the needs of the residents and support the staff.’

Elenita truly is an inspiration and a constant source of encouragement to everyone at Home Close.

Gordon Cochrane, chief executive officer, told the audience, “ I’m delighted to say that we were inundated with nominations for people that managers wanted to be recognized as absolute stars, the backbones of our homes and branches, the heroes we simply cannot do without and Elenita is one of those heroes.”
