A wedding to remember at Albany Care Home

In a heart-warming celebration of love and family, Albany Care Home in Headington, Oxford, hosted a truly special wedding on Sunday 2nd February, as a devoted couple ensured their beloved grandmother could be part of their big day. The ceremony, filled with love and emotion, took place in the presence of family and friends, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

The bride and groom, Riaz and Yasmine, chose to hold their wedding at Albany Care Home so that the groom’s grandmother, Farida, a much-loved resident of the home, could be included. As Farida was bedbound, the intimate Islamic wedding ceremony was conducted in her room, allowing her to witness and be a part of the joyous occasion.

Farida’s family and the team at Albany managed to arrange the entire event in just two days, ensuring that Farida could be present despite her limited time. Their dedication and swift efforts made the ceremony even more meaningful.

Following the service, the family gathered in the home’s beautiful garden for photographs, capturing precious moments together. Although Farida was unable to join them outside, she remained at the heart of the celebration from her room, surrounded by love and affection.

Knowing that Farida was nearing the end of her life, the family made the heartfelt decision to hold the ceremony before she passed away, ensuring she could be present for this special moment.

Lynn Gray Home Manager at Albany Care Home said: “It was an honour to host such a meaningful occasion. Seeing the love and happiness shared among the family was truly touching. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family on their loss, but we are grateful that Farida was able to experience this special day with them.”

Albany Care Home remains dedicated to providing compassionate care and ensuring that every resident feels connected and valued. This wedding was a testament to the home’s commitment to fostering meaningful experiences for its residents and their families.
