Kingsmead unveils ‘Every Hand Has a Story’ project

Kingsmead Care Home is thrilled to announce its latest initiative, “Every Hand Has a Story,” a project that celebrates the rich life experiences of residents by capturing and sharing the unique stories held in their hands.

Inspiring – The ‘Every hand Has a Story’ notice board.

Throughout this heartwarming project, residents have shared narratives connected to their hands—symbols of lives well-lived, cherished memories, and the moments that define them. One resident, initially hesitant to take part, thought her hands too ordinary to include. With gentle encouragement from the team and fellow residents, she agreed to join, and upon seeing the final image alongside her story, exclaimed, “Oh wow, those hands are beautiful! They can’t be mine!” This moment encapsulates the spirit of Every Hand Has a Story: recognising the beauty and worth in each individual’s journey.

The photographs and narratives are now beautifully displayed in Kingsmead’s activities room, transforming it into a gallery of memories and experiences. Family, friends, and the local community are warmly invited to visit and take a moment to appreciate these stories. As you explore, you may spot a familiar hand or find a story that resonates with you.

This project not only connects residents but also bridges the gap between families and their loved ones, highlighting each person’s history and unique journey. Kingsmead believes that every hand truly has a story to tell and encourages other Healthcare Homes care homes and branches to adopt this initiative, celebrating their residents’ remarkable lives.
