Residents, carers, family, friends, and former employees of Cedar Court care home recently gathered for a charity Memory Walk through Witney Town Centre in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. The event took place on a sunny day, with participants coming together to raise vital funds for dementia research while celebrating the progress made in the local community.

The walk was inspired by the memory of Beryl, the late mother of Cedar Court’s Administrator, Ann Cornelius. The event was a tribute to Beryl’s life and aimed to both raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and contribute to research efforts. Participants took the opportunity to enjoy the sights of Witney, engaging with generous well-wishers along the route who helped make the day a success. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the local community, Cedar Court raised an impressive £359, with donations continuing to come in even after the event.
Ann Cornelius shared her personal motivation for participating:
“The Memory Walk for me was in memory of my mother, who passed away last year after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Raising awareness and money will aid further research and help find a cure for dementia.”
Nicoletta Ungureanu, Manager of Cedar Court, also reflected on the day’s significance:
“It was wonderful to see our team come together for the Alzheimer’s Society charity. The turnout demonstrated how much people care about this disease within our community.”
